THIS JUST IN!
< ... 11/03/2026 ... Dappled light
i feel like this tumblr post was made for me!!! if you do not know this about me, i have 3 favorite animals: seals, deer, and cats! seals have been my favorite for the longest (since i was 12 - happy 10 years!) but deer and cats quickly followed once i realized that nobody was holding a gun to my head forcing me to choose one...
something else about me is that i love the water and the stars. when i was very little, probably from the ages 7 to 12, i took h2o: just add water as a instruction guide and became obsessed with mermaid spells. this only blossomed an already existing love for the beach, which i lived quite close to as a kid. as instructed by these online spells,
i would drink salt water, submerge myself into long baths, write notes, recite lines of text to necklaces that i would vow never to remove. as i became more aware that these spells weren't working, my attention shifted to something that i still want to this day: a mermaid tail.
my love for stars came far slower than my love for the water. while i loved stars as a kid, this love was much more broad... i was curious about space in its entirety, including the planets and whatever exists between, and had my own telescope as well as countless educational picture books lining my bedroom shelves. this passion became more focused on the stars as i entered my pre-teen years, where i would encounter astrology for the first time. this was a very basic understanding that only consisted of a knowledge of the 12 signs (i didn't even know what their elements were!) and it wasn't until i was 18 that i began to actually consider myself an astrologer. now hellenistic astrology is one of my biggest passions!
that said, this infatuation with stars does not stop at their constellations' symbolic interpretations. in my late teenage years i began to love star imagery, including it in many of my art pieces and seeking out clothing or accessories that were star themed. i also love learning about stars... one of my favorite things to learn about is black holes, which is what happens when a particularly big star reaches the end of its life! i am currently hoping to learn more about supernovae, as i see a great creative potential in such an event.
the reason why i bring all this up is because i feel that all of this is necessary to truly understand why i am always thinking about that post. it is not just because i am the world's number one sealdeer lover (although that is true as well) but that even such a thing as the light glinting through the water makes my heart flutter. now i just need to find a picture of a black cat with white spots and compare it to the night sky... then the trifecta of isifavs would be complete :P
(honorable mention: i love the woods! i haven't gotten the opportunity for a walk in a while, but i used to trek the woods in delaware alongside my grandfather when i was younger, picking berries and visiting a century-old graveyard belonging to a long-gone family. i often yearn to go out into the woods and just shout from the top of my lungs. my butch and i recently joked about needing a strong bear friend (as in the gay guy kind, not the animal kind... although that might work too...) to go hiking with us so that we're safe.)
